I read Katie MacAlister’s Fire Me Up when it came out in May of 2005. Having missed the first book in this series, I had no clue that I’d have to wait over a year to read the next. In November MacAlister will be releasing book number three Light My Fire
.
To those unfamiliar with the series here’s a brief sweep of the concept behind the books. Aisling Grey is attempting to learn about being a Guardian. She has an on again/off again relationship with Drake, an wyvern leader (dragon leader) and an uncanny ability to find trouble. In the first book, You Slay Me, Aisling comes under investigation for two murders, summons a demon named Jim, and prevents the demon lords from running the mortal world.
In book two, Fire Me Up, Aisling is playing courier for her uncle and looking for a Guardian mentor. She attends a convention and once more becomes prime suspect in a rash of Guardian murders. Jim, her demon who happens to look like a dog, and Drake, her mate, are still driving Aisling crazy. I loved this book because it made me laugh. Jim was constantly acting inappropriately for a dog and Drake was whipping Aisling into either a sexual frenzy or pissing her off.
Book three, Light My Fire, Aisling has gotten a mentor and moved to London. She’s still having problems with her mate and her demon but now somebody or something is trying to kill her. I can’t wait to get my hands on this but until then I’ve contented myself with investigating the wyvern world at Dragon Septs. Here you can play games and learn about Aisling Grey’s world (Guardians, Dragons, Books, ect). Have fun!
[...] A few weeks agoI was salivating all over the expected release of Katie MacAlister’s new book Light My Fire. MacAlister has given me a character that I sympathise with, care for, and want to see succeed. The books seem to cover about one month per book of Aisling’s life. [...]
