I’m a little torn by this book by Amy Fetzer. Hit Hardreintroduces us to Viva Fiori (Naked Truth) a woman unable to stay interested in any hobby or job for long. When we meet Viva she is on an archaeological dig in Thailand. She is given charge of a priceless ancient bracelet and told to take it to a museum curator in Bangkok. Viva’s train is held-up on route and she fights with rebels for custody of the bracelet. In steps Sam Wyatt, a mercenary with a conscious.
Sam saves Viva and takes her into the jungle with him where an almost instant sexual attraction takes place. This attraction isn’t acted upon for over half of the book-nice change of pace from erotica. Sam is on a mission to stop the sale of blood diamonds and a weapons deal.
Only together can they survive a blow dart bitch, slaver, arms dealer, and the begining of a world dominated by terrorists. Not an easy task for a woman plagued by danger and a man determined to be responsible for the world.
The story is nonstop action and held me ravenous for more until one tiny little scene where Viva, at some unclear point in time, is hypnotized to kill Sam. This vein is not pursued much later in the story nor is it explained. I could have done without this twist. Viva is interesting, funny and has many hidden layers (all of which were riveting). Sam is much more straight forward. He is a protector. If I had to rate this book I’d give it 3.5 stars out of 5.
