I decided to browse erotic writing on the web this weekend. I found two sites that offered two very different sides to erotic fiction. The first site was The Erotic Woman. It was well designed and offered tasteful erotica (pictures/fiction/poetry). The other site was Literotica.
Literotica site states that it is an erotic site, but it was porn. Many of the stories featured bad cut/paste jobs, change in voice from 3rd to 1st, and were just not erotica. The site was cheesy, but it made me confident in myself.
I know that I can write better than many of the stories I read. I’m not trying to be full of myself but the writings I read were bad. B-A-D. So, now I’m writing short erotica. I guess we’ll see how it goes.
On a side note I decided to look up the worth of my blog. I thought the most it could be worth was $5. Here’s what it gave me. I’m going to recheck this in March and see if it changes at all.
My blog is worth
$7,903.56.
How much is your blog worth?

Yeah, I’ve had that, too, when you look at something and think, “Someone thinks this is GOOD?”
I can’t decide if it reaffirms my belief in myself or if it just depresses the hell out of me… what happened to standards?

Susan- Yep, that’s exactly what I thought. Who is the world thinks this is good. I guess it where it’s published is important too.
This writing serves a purpose. It makes me feel real good about myself and I think that if someone can put this crap out there why can’t I.

There’s alot of dreck at Literotica, but there are gems. It was a training ground for authors like Morgan Hawke (who credits the fanbase she built up at Literotica for her success as well as their volunteer editors). If you write well, you’ll stand out from the crowd and gain an audience. Of course, I say this as someone who just joined Literotica in an attempt to gain some more exposure.

Racy- I can’t honestly say that I’ve thoroughly explored the site. I got irritated after reading a couple of really bad first paragraphs. I’m not exactly the best at sorting aside the bad in search of the one good thing. It reminds me of garage sales.
There are really good things to be found if you’re willing to search. I’m just not a digger. If I come across something great, if not. . . oh well. I’ll go back now and check you out soon.

stumbling around the erotic blogosphere and landed here… I know its an old post but it resonates currently with me. I, too, have sloshed through the drivel that is Literotica.com; finding the occasional gem but coming away largely disappointed.
Writing like that actually inspired me to write my own as well! I write well in other genres, why not erotic fiction?
I have just this month started my own erotic fiction blog. I would be honored if you wished to check it out and leave any comment or critique. I’m bookmarking your site!
