13 reasons I don’t own animals 1. I don’t like the smell. 2. I have kids, aren’t they pets? Kind of? 3. I never want to clean poop off the floor again. 4. They make my eyes itch. 5. The noises they make gets on my nerves. 6. I’m not going outside in the cold for any reason. 7. It would cut down on me, me, me time. (Yes, I’m selfish) 8. I’d rather buy a picture of an animal. 9. My youngest is afraid of animals. 10. I can’t take care of a pet the way others can. 11. I can’t keep fish alive; what would happen to a dog? 12. I don’t have time to care for a pet. 13. I’m not a big enough animal lover to own one. I like them; I just Other TT’s |
Another reason to not like pets…sometimes dogs eat their own poop…at least mine does. It’s gross! Blech! Thanks for sharing! Happy Thursday Thirteen!!!

) I’ve got 2 cats that are like kids (got the kids, too, LOL) ~ they each have a turtle. They had a little African Dwarf Frog buuuuuuut *somehow* it bit the dust, LOL.
As the mom of two dogs, 3 hamsters and 3 large fish tanks and 4 kids, I will say that fish are much more difficult to keep alive than dogs. As far as messy goes,though, the kids have everything in the house beat on that one:)

Cats are wonderfully selfsufficient in theory (except for my needy Siamese who right at the moment has decided my lap and hands make a good resting stop)

I have two dogs and a fish. Both of said animals were supposed to be cared for by hubby and/or oldest child. Guess who takes care of them?
I do love pets. I contribute to animal causes. But after years of taking care of kids and animals, I’ve told hubby and kids that after these pets grow old and pass away – no more.
Two of our dogs passed away in the last two years. One was 16 years old, the other 13. Probably the worst goodbyes I’ve ever had to say – yet another reason not to own pets. In the long run, they break your heart.
Oh, I’d be lost without my cats. Unconditional love. An occasional hairball. Foot warmers at night. And lots of affirmation that yes, it IS all about me!
