This is a rant

14 Nov

I’m so irritated I could spit venom. It’s slightly after 6:30 a.m. and I’ve been awake for the last hour and a half listening to my stupid neighbor’s dog bark. It has been constant. Four barks breath, four barks breath, four… Get it.

I knew that it was going to be a problem the first day I saw that they had a dog (about three weeks ago). It slowly began with them letting the dog out. Notice I said them letting the dog out, not going out with it. They crack the door and out the dog goes. I have two kids, one of which is terrified of animals.

It’s not fair that they are penalized because the neighbors had to have a pet. Now I have to check before they go out to see if the neighbors have the dog on a chain or if it’s free roaming. I’d say out of the three weeks they’ve had the dog, it has only been chained for three days .

I’m just tired and it doesn’t help that it’s the same house where the girl walked down the middle line of the road with an infant and a toddler as I was driving behind her and refused to move to the sidewalk or the edge of the street.

I sympathize. I have many chained dogs in my neighborhood. The problem is not just letting the dogs run loose but chaining leads to aggressive, unsocialized dogs who bark for attention. There are currently 110 jurisdictions in the United States that address chaining. In most cities, dogs running loose is against the law. If I were you, I would call animal control and make these people take responsibility for the dog. For more information on the cruel, dangerous practice of chaining dog, http://www.helpinganimals.com/ga_chained.asp.

I hate a barking dog. Our neighbors got a puppy that they neglect and leave outside and it yips and yaps like crazy. Call the cops. It disturbing the peace and they (neighbors) don’t have to know who called.

Just so you know we have a dog…Emily. We love her to bits, and she’s not a barker. She does get to howling like a banshee when there’s a siren or something but other than that she’s a sweetheart. I just didn’t want you to think I was a dog hater or anything. I just don’t like people who don’t take care of their pets.

Ack, Scoop. So sorry to hear that your neighbors aren’t good pet parents. Unfortunately, most people don’t realize the responsibility that comes with getting a dog. They should be respectful of neighbors as well. Like the others have said, call 911 and report them. As for walking down the middle of the road…well, I’d have honked my horn the entire time or nudged them with my car. Honestly, how disrespectful of them??

It’s amazing how many people have pets that shouldn’t. 😦 Our neighbors brought home 2 puppies that grew into very destructive dogs. Animal Control gave them an initial warning and then started fining every time they came out. The promise of future fines might make your neighbors take responsibility.
